Countdown to Black Country maternity recruitment event

14th Nov 2022

Midwives and neonatal nurses from Black Country NHS Trusts will be showcasing the wide range of maternity career opportunities on offer at a recruitment event this month.

The event has been arranged through the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) for Wednesday 23 November at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill, near to the Merry Hill Centre.

Attendees will be able to get a real insight into the training and development opportunities available including Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Clinical Practitioner roles and meet with the specialist Midwives who support families across all communities.

Sally Roberts, LMNS Senior Responsible Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, Black Country Integrated Care Board, said: “We’re counting down to our big day and can’t wait to meet potential new Midwives and Neonatal Nurses who are interested in supporting us here in the Black Country.

“This event is a chance for people to see the services we provide and the investment being made into those that work with us in terms of potential career pathways. There will also be an education zone where all providers will have tables and staff there to talk to attendees about their organisation and the different roles available.

“We’re really looking forward to meeting and interviewing new – or returning – faces and can assure them of a warm welcome.”

Potential candidates – who must hold a current NMC registration or be in the final year of a pre-registration course, will be able to be interviewed on the day.

Staff from the four Trusts that make up the LMNS, Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS  Trust, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, The Dudley Group Foundation Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, are all supporting the drive and will be on hand to share details about the work going on across the LMNS.

The event runs from 9am to 4.30pm and aims to recruit around 40 staff to include:

  • Band 5 Neonatal Unit Nurses
  • Band 5/6 Midwives for hospital and community settings
  • Band 7 Midwives
  • Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioners in Midwifery
