Against a background of increasing challenge in healthcare communications the Trust’s communications team has pulled off a triple by being shortlisted in three categories in one of the most respected national awards for professionals in their field – and they need your vote to win the ‘Communications Team of the Year’ title.
Also named as finalists in ‘Best social media account’ and in ‘Supporting health and wellbeing in communications’ in the prestigious comms2point0 UnAwards, they have been recognised for the way they support staff in sharing good practice and translating complex information into messages that engage with patients, staff, and the population. They are up against a number of other organisations from across the UK, and the winner of Communications Team of the Year will be selected following a public vote which closes on 21 November.
The team enjoy the full support of their executive leadership, with Chief Executive Officer Richard Beeken commenting: “They are a resource which is available to all teams in practice either face to face or on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They work to fundamental principles of putting the patient at the heart of all they do, sharing important messages in public health, how to access services, and promoting essential screening programmes that save lives.
“They portray trusted clinicians as positive role models and produce high quality materials. Their output is measured rigorously as they work to a challenging set of targets that celebrates diversity, inclusion and keeps the Trust values of Ambition, Respect and Compassion as their cornerstone. So, it is no surprise that the team have been shortlisted in not one but three categories including ‘Communications Team of the Year.
“They are brave in exploring new technologies and channels to engage with our communities and have realised significant success in their creative use of TikTok – at a time when many shied away from the channel. My executive colleagues welcome the support they provide and know we can trust their expertise in the communications field.
“However, no team is an island, so they would be unable to achieve success across the many platforms they work without the partnerships they enjoy with other teams both within the Trust and partner organisations – significantly with our inhouse medical illustration team – and also the clinical and corporate teams that provide the stories for them to create their engaging content.”
