A leading doctor will join teachers to pound the streets of Birmingham – all in aid of charity.
Dr Mike Blaber Palliative Care Specialist and teachers, Jamie Grainger, Quinn Smith and Luke Smith from Bristnall Hall Academy in Oldbury, will be taking part in the Birmingham Half Marathon on 5 May.
They are raising money for Your Trust Charity, the registered charity for Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. Funds will go towards enhancing the experiences of patients, their families and staff at the organisation.
The teachers have supported the hospital charity over the years from commissioning paintings on a maternity ward to fundraising cake sales and Christmas jumper competitions.
Jamie said: “We’ve previously ran the half marathon in aid of Your Trust Charity and donated over £500.This year we are determined to double our target. We would like to thank those who have supported us already, a small donation can go a long way to ensure the charity supports those in the hospital.”
Funds donated to Your Trust Charity go towards providing additional facilities and supporting innovative projects at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital which opens in October.
Dr Blaber added: “Running is a passion of mine along with being a doctor for the local patients of Sandwell and West Birmingham. Raising money for the Trust’s charity is very rewarding. I’ve seen first-hand how the funding has enhanced the experience of not only our patients, but also the staff working here.”
