Residents across and Sandwell and West Birmingham can find out more about a state-of-the-art hospital by hopping onto a bus packed with information.
The Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick, opens later this year and will house one large accident and emergency department and 50 per cent ensuite rooms for patients.
It will also boast an ultra-modern maternity department where women will be able to give birth in comfortable surroundings.
The engagement tour bus manned by Jayne Salter-Scott, Head of Public and Community Engagement and Mal Phull, Public and Community Engagement Manager at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, will share information about the new site.
They are also on hand to explain what services will remain at Sandwell and City Hospitals which are run by the Trust.
Jayne said: “The bus has been kitted out with information, including booklets and merchandise that we can share with our community.
“We are raising awareness about what services will be at MMUH, and some key dates about the move.
“It’s important that we keep people informed as we come closer to the opening date.”
The tour bus is not only parking up outside the Trust’s various sites but is also visiting partner organisations across the community. The Nishkam Healthcare Trust is due to host the bus on Tuesday 14 May between 10am and 2pm and more community venues are planned.
Jayne added: “We would urge people to come along so they can find out more.”
Pop-up stands are also situated at Sandwell and City Hospitals which are hosting drop-in sessions for patients, visitors and staff.
