People from across the Midlands can now pay privately to have their unwanted body hair or tattoos removed at a regional centre of NHS excellence.
The Birmingham Regional Skin Laser Centre, based at the Birmingham Skin Centre at Sheldon Block, City Hospital, has one of the widest selections of skin laser equipment in Europe. They are now able to offer private laser hair removal and tattoo removal treatment to people from across the city and beyond.
With prices being very competitive with the private sector, people can be reassured that they are being treated by an NHS consultant or nursing team in a clean, safe environment.
With laser treatment, hair growth becomes progressively slower, finer and lighter in colour, with a possible reduction in hair growth of up to 70%. Treatment is available to significantly reduce hair on areas from the upper lip or chin to full back, legs, shoulders and arms.
Laser tattoo removal is the most effective way of removing unwanted tattoos. Laser treatment helps to fade and remove amateur, professional, cosmetic and traumatic tattoos.
Dr Anthony Abdullah, Consultant Dermatologist, Lead Clinician at the Birmingham Regional Skin Laser centre and specialist in Laser therapy, Paediatrics and General Dermatology, explained: “We treat all skin disorders where laser therapy is appropriate, including hair removal, tattoo removal, red and brown birthmarks. While some patients will be referred by their GP to receive laser treatment on the NHS, people can now pay as a private patient.
“People will receive the safest, most comfortable and efficient treatments to get the best results, delivered by a team of NHS professionals. All treatments take place in an NHS environment, which is fully registered with the health regulator the Care Quality Commission.”
