Midland Met is redrawing our skyline

19th Oct 2016

IN JUST under two years, the region’s newest hospital – The Midland Met will open its doors to patients requiring acute medical care. To mark this event, keen photographers are invited to a special event to visit the site and capture a photograph of the building as it reaches for the sky.

The event is an opportunity to get involved in the on-going photographic competition run by Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which aims to select images that capture the essence of the hospital and encapsulate the culture and diversity in the community to display at an exhibition when the Midland Met opens in 2018.

The event will take place this Friday 21st October, from 2pm – 4pm at the Midland Met site office off Cranford Street and attendees will be able to take their own photographs from the viewing platform overlooking the mammoth site.

Trust Director of Communications, Ruth Wilkin commented: “The Midland Met will serve the health needs of our community for many years to come, so we would like to ensure that we mark this important time with a photographic record, which will be an important reference for those who come after us.

“As many thousands of babies have been born on our hospital sites at Sandwell and City, many more will be born at Midland Met, so this is their history we’re writing now for them. Looking at it that way, this is a poignant and important project to be part of.”

Places are limited, as this facility is not generally open to the public, so tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you wish to come along please email to Vy Tran at v.tran@nhs.net with a contact telephone number.

Photographs can be entered in the competition electronically through the Trust’s website www.swbh.nhs.uk/capturingthecommunity. Entry forms submitted must be complete and carry with them a full description of the scene depicted in the image submitted.

Terms and conditions can be found at this address and must be accepted when submitting.
