Specialist headache nurse Julie Edwards is urging patients to “just ask” about headaches in an upcoming Twitter surgery on Thursday 20th June.
Julie will be available from 10-12pm to answer questions on Twitter and to offer advice and information about what causes headaches, how to treat them and when you need to see your GP.
Julie said: “Headaches are common neurological disorders that are often under-diagnosed and under-treated. Most headaches do not have a serious underlying cause but can seriously limit functioning and lifestyle if not treated.
“There are approximately 190,000 migraine attacks in the UK every day with a third of sufferers reporting discrimination or difficulties at work because of their headaches.
“It’s really important for people to know how to treat their headaches, what they can do to prevent them and when they should visit their GP. Twitter surgeries are a good way for people to ask questions and get an immediate response.”
Tweet your questions to @SWBHnhs and use the hash tag #SWBHjustask to join in the conversation.
This is one of a number of Twitter chats Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals has planned for 2013 with the aim of giving people access to specialist healthcare professionals from their home, workplace or on the go.
